VARIETY: Pinot Grigio vs Pinot Gris. It’s the same grape, with slightly different winemaking styles. Wines marked Pinot Grigio are typically made in an Italian style – fruit picked early to retain freshness that produce dry, crisp and light bodied wines with citrus aromas. Gris can be richer, more full-bodied and sometimes sweet. We’ve sourced our fruit from Wrattonbully in the South East on South Australia for the first time in 2024, a climate similar to Friuli-Venezia Giulia in Northern Italy, our favourite region for this variety. The limestone geology of Wrattonbully is also comparable to the limestone plateau of much of Friuli.

Marcus Ellis | Halliday Wine Companion : Free-run juice fermented cool. The rosy hint to the hue is shared by the nose, with red apple skin and pink talc, along with corella and Williams pears. Pure of feel, with a bolster of fruit richness and a cleanly crisp but not tart finish. Classic stuff done well. Published 17 September 2024

Campbell Mattinson | The WineFront : Pinot grigio is often fun, frisky and simple, in a juicy way, with pinot gris offering more body, as a general rule. Both styles of course are made with the same grape variety. This Yoyo Pinot Grigio almost seems as much gris as grigio though, with lots of flavour and a genuine feeling of “body”. If all this sounds confusing, let me put it his way: everything about this Yoyo Pinot Grigio is an absolute positive. Hay, pears, apples and salt characters come with a leesy, yeasty edge. It all slips down easily enough, but there’s genuine weight, and genuine complexity, and genuine texture to be enjoyed. Tasted Jan25 93 Points
