For the first time in 2024 we have selected fruit from three different vineyards each distinctly different geologies
Paxton Viticultures Jones Block Vineyard with sandy loam over ironstone
McLaren Vines Vineyard with deep sand over limestone
Windmill Creek Vineyard with deep silty loam
All three combined have resulted in undoubtably our finest Pee Wee thus far
Times have certainly changed! The variety of course comes from Sicily whose south coast from Siracusa all the way around to Palermo is climatically identical to McLaren Vale. The variety not only thrives in our hot/dry summer it produces vibrant, fruit driven, medium bodied red wines that pair beautifully with a wide range of cuisines. It ticked all our boxes in terms of sustainability and style

The fruit is gently hand plunged every 8 hours for 3 days to develop colour and flavour. We endeavour to leave the must on skins long enough to develop the personality and varietal character of Nero d’Avola without the tannin and phenolics. We refer Pee Wee as a white wine drinker’s red wine for that very reason. Free Run and Pressings are combined in stainless steel, then wild-fermented on full solids. No added acid enzymes or tannins. Vegan friendly. Note, this wine tastes sweet but contains no sugar. It has been fermented bone dry. The perceived sweetness is the result of the Nero d’Avola’s natural occurring raspberry, cherry cola, sweet fruit flavoured varietal character. 35mg/L SO2 added prior to bottling.
