Marcus Ellis Wine Companion : Saperavi can really impose itself, both in flavour pitch and structural framework. And this does, to a degree, but there’s also enough breathing space to register the detail. Sarsaparilla, a savoury black jellybean note, bitter chocolate, soused black cherries and red fruits, too, with sour cherries and kirsch. There are also florals, violets, moody deep-red roses. Tannins slap you around a bit, but that’s saperavi’s thing. Eat something with it; it’s only civilised. This is a compelling expression of the grape. 94 Points Published May 2025
